Abstract

The hierarchical porous carbon (HPC) electrodes were prepared by hydrothermal treatment with shaddock peel as a precursor, and then activated by KOH using the impregnation method. The morphology of the materials was observed using scanning electron microscope (SEM),and the structure was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD).The electrochemical characteristics of the materials were measured by cyclic voltammetry (CV),galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD),and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).The results showed that the materials exhibited a hierarchical porous structure consisting of macropore, micropore, and mesoporous. Moreover, the optimum electrochemical properties of HPC was obtained while the mass ratio of precursor and KOH was 1∶9(HPC-9).Electrochemical measurements showed that HPC-9 possessed a high capacitance of 306F/g at the scan rate of 5mV/s,which was 23.5 times higher than that of the inactivated sample.Furthermore,no capacity decay was observed over 10000 cycles indicating its remarkable electrochemical stability. Therefore, the HPC prepared from shaddock peel had excellent capacitive properties, and expected to have a good application prospect.
