Abstract

Hydrogen production from electrolysis of water is one of the most important hydrogen production technologies presently, and the economical and efficient catalyst for hydrogen evolution is one of the keys to realize industrialization of this technology. Here, the recent preparation methods and the effects on electrocatalytic performance of 2D molybdenum carbide(MoC) were reviewed briefly. The adv-/disadvantages of the existing preparation methods were analyzed, and forecasted the application prospect of the novel 2D MoC as the catalyst for hydrogen evolution in water electrolysis.
