Preparation and performance of anti-compression polythioether sealant

Abstract

A new type of polythioether rubber with high crosslinking and low viscosity was prepared by thiol ene click chemical reaction.The number average molecular weight was 5611,the polydispersity index was only 2.9,and the glass transition temperature was -60℃.Compared with the polysulfide sealant,the polythioether sealant showed excellent compression resistance,and the compression creep variable was only 5.19%.the compression permanent deformation rate of the sealant increased with the increase of the sample height,and the greater the pressure,the easier the creep deformation was,but the overall increment was small.Compared with the mechanical properties after thermal cycling,the sealant had better high temperature resistance than polysulfide sealant.The low temperature stress relaxation test shown that the polythioether sealant had better low temperature compression resistance.
