A covalent grafting method was adopted to modify graphene oxide (GO).The grafted organic molecules onto GO surfaces were confirmed by using SEM,FT-IR,XPS,TG and showed grafted content of ~7wt%.The resultant functionalized GO sheets (FGO) possessed well dispersion capability in many organic solvents,such as ethanol,DMF,NMP,dichloromethane,styrene and so on,in which the concentration of FGO in ethanol could reach up to 5mg/mL.Moreover,the FGO was utilized as functional nano filler to prepare GO/PS nanocomposites through solution intercalation.The good dispersion of FGO in the matrix could effectively improve the thermal properties of the nanocomposites.The temperature of the extrapolated onset of the nanocomposites increased by 51.7℃ and the glass transition temperature increased by 10.8℃ with loading of 2.0wt% FGO.
