The p-phenylenediethanol was used as a modifier.Under the condition of sodium hydroxide as a catalyst,it was first reacted with phenol under high temperature conditions,then added to polycondensation,and then modified to form a modified phenolic resin foam.The characteristics of the foam were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy hydrogen spectroscopy,apparent density,water absorption,pulverization degree,thermogravimetry and oxygen index.The foam was successfully synthesized,and the modified foam decreased water absorption and chalking degree compared with the common phenolic foam.The rapid weight loss temperature,the residual carbon ratio and the limiting oxygen index of the foam were improved,and the heat resistance was improved.
