Study on mechanical property of ETPE-based gun-propellent contained CL-20

Abstract

In order to study the mechanical properties of polyaminated glycidyl ether (GAP)-based thermoplastic elastomer (GAP-ETPE) propellants contained 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaaza-tetracyclo-[5.5.0.05,9.03,11]-dodecane (CL-20),several groups of CL-20 ETPE-based gun-propellent were prepared.Their density were measured and their mechanical properties were studied by impact test and compression test.The results showed that the ethanol-acetone-tetrahydrofuran mixed solvent had different solubility to nitrocellulose (NC) with different nitrogen content.The increase of molecular weight of ETPE was beneficial to improve the impact resistance of such gun-propellant,but it was not conducive to compression resistance.Mixed NC was beneficial to improve the impact resistance and compression resistance of such gun-propellants.
