Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) was prepared by liquid-solid method with high density polyethylene (HDPE),Chlorine(Cl2) and sulfonyl chloride (SO2Cl2) as reaction reagents.CSM with chlorine content of 30% to 38% and sulfur content of 0.6% to 1.3% was prepared by this method,and FT-IR was used to prove the feasibility of the reaction.The performance tests showed that the crosslinking density of CSM decreased with the increase of sulfur content,and the tensile strength remained about 26MPa,and the elongation at break decreased with the increase of sulfur content.The higher the chlorine content,the worse the resilience and the smaller the compression permanent deformation.Glass transition temperature (Tg) increased with the increase of polar chlorine atoms on the molecular chains.The thermal decomposition process of CSM was divided into three stages.The removal of chlorsulfonyl groups,the removal of chlorine atoms,and the degradation reaction,respectively.The CSM prepared by liquid-solid method met the requirements of GB/T 30920—2014 chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) rubber.
