Preparation and characterization of large size polymethylsiloxane microsphere with narrow particle size distribution

Abstract

The large uniform sizes polymethylsiloxane microspheres were prepared by the precipitate polymerization method.Effects of the reaction parametes,such as the ratio of oil to water,the reaction temperature,and the pH value of initiator aqueous on microsphere size and distribution were investigated.Polymethylsiloxane microspheres were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FT-IR),X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscope(SEM).Narrow size distribution polymethylsiloxane microspheres in the size range of 10.8μm were prepared when the oil-water ratio was 1∶7,the pH value of initiator aqueous was 11,reaction temperature was 35℃.
