Study on preparation and performance of SA/PSR composite

Abstract

In order to improve the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of polysulfide rubber (PSR),hydrophobic silica aerogel (SA) was used to modify PSR to prepare SA/PSR.The influence of SA with different filler content on the mechanical properties,solvent resistance,and heat resistance of the materials were explored.The results showed that the addition of SA can significantly improve the comprehensive properties of PSR.Especially,when the additive amount of SA was 3wt%,the mechanical properties of the SA/PSR reached the best.The elongation at break was 539.4%,which was 207% higher than the pure PSR,and the tensile strength was 1.32MPa,which was 103% higher than pure PSR.
