Research on preparation and property of N-halamine treated antibacterial cotton fabric

Abstract

Novel kind of dichlorotriazine N-halamine antibacterial precursor 2,4-dichloro-6-(acetamino-amine) trimethylammonium chloride-1,3,5 triazine (DTCT) was prepared by the nucleophilic reaction between Girad's reagent T (GT) and cyanuric chloride (CYCH).The DTCT compound was grafted onto cotton fabric through the finishing process of active dyestuff at low temperature,and the antibacterial cotton fabric was prepared after chlorination processing.The successful preparation of the grafted fabric was determined by analyzing the FT-IR and SEM images.The breaking strength of different fabrics and the bactericidal efficacy of chlorinated DTCT treated cotton fabric were studied as well.Taking into account all the results,the finishing method can not only guarantee the effective antibacterial effect but also retained the mechanical properties of the fabric.
