Research progress on PVDF-based electrospun nanofiber battery separator

Abstract

Nanofiber membranes prepared by electrospinning technology provide new options for the preparation of high-performance new type lithium battery separators due to their high porosity,low pore size,and uniform pore size distribution.Especially,electrospun nanofiber membranes made of ethylene (PVDF) as a matrix take the advantages of strong mechanical properties,high electrolyte wetting,and small shrinkage.Thus,PVDF are considered to be one of the important raw materials for lithium battery separators in the future.The characteristics and performance of different types of PVDF-based electrospun fiber separators were summarized,and analyzed the comparative advantages with commercial polyolefin separators.A certain reference for production of high-performance separators was provided.
