Influence of melamine on flammability of Si rubber/Mg(OH)2/hydrotalcite composite

Abstract

The effects of melamine amount on flame retardancy and thermal stability of silicone rubber/magnesium hydroxide[Mg(OH)2」/hydrotalcite composites were characterized by ultimate oxygen index instrument,horizontal vertical combustion instrument and thermogravimetric analyzer.The results showed that the addition of melamine expanded the thermogravimetric temperature range of composite materials,effectively reduced the thermogravimetric rate,and improved the thermal stability of composite materials.When the mass ratio of fixed silicone rubber/Mg(OH)2/hydrotalcite/melamine was 100/38/22/15,the vertical combustion grade reached V-0,the ultimate oxygen index was 30.4%,and the flame retardant performance of the composite material was excellent.
