Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have received widespread attention in recent years in eliminating toxic pollutants due to their attractive properties.UiO-66 has good thermal stability and is not easily decomposed when exposed to heat.UiO-66 also exhibits excellent chemical stability, resistance to decomposition or denaturation under conditions of air, water, chloroform, and various solvents, and outstanding resistance to high external pressure and other characteristics. The main reason is the strong Zr—O bond and high coordination number between zirconium clusters and organic ligands. These exceptional characteristics make it have many potential applications in wastewater treatment. This article mainly outlined the use of UiO-66 as an excellent water stable MOF for the efficient removal (adsorption separation and degradation) of organic dyes, and prospected its future development in wastewater treatment.
