Nematic liquid crystal monomer 4-(4-allylbenzoyl) ethyl benzoate (M1) and cholesteric liquid crystal monomer 4-allylbenzoate (M2) were firstly prepared,and then a series of side-chain liquid crystal polymers (P1—P5) were synthesized by graft copolymerization of the two monomers with polymethylhydrosiloxane.The structures and properties of liquid crystal monomers and polymers were characterized by FT-IR,1H-NMR,DSC,TGA,XRD and POM,etc.The results showed that polymer P1 had no liquid crystal properties and optical activity,but P2—P5 exhibitedliquid crystal properties of cholesteric phase and right-handed optical activity.With the increase of M2 monomer content,the glass transition temperature (Tg) and clear point (Tc) gradually increased,and the liquid crystal phase temperature range increased from 61.4℃ to 120.5℃.Among them,P5 had selective reflection during the heating and cooling processes.In addition,all polymers P1—P5 had good thermal stability.
