The absorbent resin of AM-AMPS copolymer was synthesized by solution copolymerization with acrylamide and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid as monomers,ammonium persulfate and sodium hydrogen sulfite as initiators,and N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide as crosslinking agent.The effects of process conditions such as AM/AMPS ratio,initiator amount,crosslinking agent amount,pH,reaction temperature and reaction time on the water-absorbing multiplicity were investigated.The results demonstrated that when the AM/AMPS ratio was 1/2~1/1,the initiator amount was 0.3%,crosslinking agent amount was 0.06%~0.1%,the pH was 7,the reaction temperature was 35~40℃,and the reaction time was 2~4h,the prepared resin possessed excellent water absorption property.The copolymer structure was tested and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,thermogravimetric analysis and gel permeation chromatograph.
