Using Corn Cobs hemicellulose (xylan) as raw material,acrylic acid (AA) and N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAm) as functional monomers,N,N′-methylenebis-acrylamide (MBA) as cross-linker and 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone (DMPA) as photoinitiator,biomass hydrogel adsorbents were prepared by graft polymerization under UV irradiation.The chemical structures of hydrogels before and after the adsorption of metal ions were analyzed by FT-IR and SEM.The effects of pH,adsorbent dosage,temperature,initial concentration of metal ions,and adsorption time on adsorption capacities of Pb2+ were studied.The results showed that the adsorption equilibrium time was about 300 min,and the maximum adsorption capacity for Pb2+ was 1095mg/g.The adsorption process was an ion-exchange mechanism and the adsorption behavior was in accordance with the quasi-secondary kinetic model and Langmuir equation.The hemicellulose-based hydrogel had a significant adsorption performance for the Pb2+ and could be used as biomass adsorbent to treat the heavy metal ions wastewater.
