Abstract: Electromagnetic wave absorbing performances of five carbon materials with different morphologies [carbon microspheres (CMSs),graphite nanosheets (nano G),carbon nanofibers (CNFs),helical carbon nanotubes (HCNTs) and graphenes (GNs)] were studied by measuring electromagnetic parameters and simulating reflection losses numerically in X-band (8.2～12.4GHz).The results showed that five materials all possessed excellent electromagnetic absorbing properties,the minimum reflection losses of which were all less than -10dB at their optimum matching thickness,implying that more than 90% electromagnetic energy was absorbed.Among them,GNs had the best microwave absorption and the effective absorption bandwidth was 2.4GHz(8.2～10.6GHz).The reflection loss reached -33.6dB at 8.4GHz with the best matching thickness of 3.4mm,indicating that the electromagnetic wave absorption rate of GNs was 99.9% at this frequency.
