Polymer solar cells (PSCs) that harvesting clean solar energy has been considered as a promising candidate for the next generation of photovoltaic technology to solve the impending energy crisis.Compared with conventional inorganic solar cells,PSCs exhibited advantages,such as low cost,light-weight,and roll-to-roll processing on flexible substrates.In order to improve the performance of PSCs,a highly efficient donor polymer PTB7-Th combined with acceptor fullerene PC71BM was introduced as the subcell in the series-connected polymer tandem solar cells.The effects of active layer thickness and use of ultrathin Ag film on the short-current density (JSC) were studied based on transfer matrix method.It was found that the maximum JSC was achieved in the tandem device with a front cell active layer thickness of 190nm and a back subcell blend layer thickness of 90nm.The performance of the tandem cells can be further improved by inserting an ultrathin Ag layer in the interconnection layer with micro-cavity effect to realize the current matching in the subcells.
