The super strength water absorbent based bentonite and poly(methylacrylic acid) composite was prepared with N′N-methylenebisacrylamide used as the crosslinker,ammonium persulfate as the initiator by solution polymerization,characterized by FTIR.And the effects of the dosage of bentonite,the neutralization degree of monomer,the dosage of cross-linker etc.on water absorption and compress strength were investigated.The results showed that the absorbency was 382g/g for distill water,216g/g for tap water,76g/g for 0.9%(wt) of Na2SO4,the compressive strength was 16.73MPa of composite when the concentration of NaOH was 2moL/L,the neutralization degree of monomer was 80%,the dosage of crosslinker was 0.75% of monomer.
