A new-style SBR compound modified asphalt can be made by the addition of C9 petroleum resin,sulfur and SBR.The effects of C9 petroleum resin,sulfur and SBR on the physical properties were investigated by conventional test.The modification mechanism of SBR/S/C9 petroleum resin compound modified asphalt were investigated by infrared spectrum (IR),thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The test results showed that the softening point and rotary viscosity increased,the penetration decreased with adding C9 petroleum resin.The chemical crosslinking reaction occurred in modified asphalt when C9 petroleum resin was added to SBR/S compound modified asphalt.The C9 petroleum resin and SBR formed big molecule with elastic net structure under the action of sulfur bridge.The structure had fine stability and better compatibility with the matrix asphalt.The TG test showed that the modified asphalt had better thermal compatibility.A base in terms of microscopic structure was presented for the further application of SBR/S/C9 petroleum resin compound modified asphalt.
