A silane coupling agent with reactive CC double bond was used to treat surface of tourmaline powder.Further,polymethacrylatoethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (PDMC) was grafted onto the surface of such silane modified tourmaline by free radical copolymerization.It is shown in the results that,when the mass of silane modified tourmaline was 1.0g,the dosage of monomer was 50.0% of tourmaline,the dosage of initiator was 2.0% of tourmaline,reaction time was 4h,reaction temperature was 75℃,the percent grafting of PDMC reached 7.3%.IR results confirmed that PDMC was grafted on the surface of tourmaline.The antibacterial rate of the unmodified tourmaline was 55.4%,and its antibacterial capability was mainly inhibition.The PDMC grafted tourmaline exhibited significant synergistic antibacterial effect.Its antibacterial capability was mainly inhibition and destruction,with an antibacterial rate of 94.2%.
