Abstract: The effect of PES on the properties of 5284 resin and the toughening mechanism were investigated by SEM and mechanical properties tests of resin.ES-U3160 fabrics with toughening function were prepared according to ex-situ toughening technology.ES-U3160/5284 composites were prepared by RTM process taking ES-U3160 fabrics as reinforcement,and the properties of toughness of composites were studied.The results showed that with the increase of PES content,the impact toughness of 5284 resin was greatly improved.PES and 5284 resin formed a double continuous phase structure,which effectively prevented the crack propagation and played a role in toughening.GⅠC value,GⅡC value and CAI value of ES-U3160/5284 were greatly improved,compared with that of un-toughened composite.
