Abstract: A quaternary ammonium salt 2-dimethyl-2-hexadecyl-1-methacryloxyethyl ammonium bromide (DEHMA) was synthesized.The synthesized DEHMA was bonded on PET fabrics by a pad-dry-cure process to obtain antibacterial PET fabrics by using 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator.The influence of different treatment conditions on weight gain of fabrics was studied,and the optimum conditions were determined.The surface morphology and characterizations of treated PET was measured by FT-IR,SEM and XPS.The results of antibacterial test showed that the treated fabrics could inactivate 100% S.aureus and E.coli O157∶H7 with contact time of 1min,which demonstrated excellent antibacterial properties.
