Abstract: In order to improve the corrosion protective performance of silicate-based ceramic coating on metal substrate, four kinds of silicate-based ceramic coatings (denoted as S1—S4) including different Al contents were prepared on the 304 stainless steel surface. The microstructure of coatings after immersion in 3.5% NaCl solution was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The mass change of coating sample before and after corrosion and the electrochemical corrosion behavior were also studied. The results showed that the S3 coating remained basically flat after immersion in the etching solution for 400h.Under the same corrosion condition, the mass loss per unit area of S3 coating was the smallest. After melted at 800℃,S3 coating can form a relatively stable passivation and showed the best corrosion resistance.
