Influence of compatilizer on the structure and property of PP/PGA

Abstract: Polypropylene/polyglycolic acid blends (PP/PGA) were prepared by melt blending.The effects of the content of PP-g-MAH compatibilizer on the mechanical properties,melt crystallization behavior,rheological behavior and fracture morphology of blends were investigated in detail.The results showed that the compatibility of the blend system was significantly enhanced with the addition of PP-g-MAH,the mechanical properties were improved.On the other hand,PP-g-MAH had heterogeneous nucleation effect on PGA crystallization,and the previously crystallized PGA can also be used as the heterogeneous nucleating agent for PP crystallization.With the increase of the amount of compatibilizer,the crystallization temperature of PGA was increased,but the degree of crystal perfection was decreased,and even did not crystallize.The crystallization temperature of PP decreased first and then increased,and the complex viscosity was increased first and then decreased.
