Preparation and property of P (AA/AM) SAP modified by GO

Abstract: In order to obtain super absorbent polymer with better overall performance,the effect of graphene oxide (GO) on the modification of P(AA/AM) super absorbent resin (SAP) was studied.Graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized through Hummers method,and P(AA/AM)-GO complex salt sensitive material was fabricated by aqueous solution.The microstructure and thermal properties of material were analyzed by SEM,FT-IR and TGR,and swelling tests,water retention were carried out.The effects of GO concentration,monomer ratio,crosslinking agent and initiator dosage on the salt resistance and water absorption of P(AA/AM)-GO were studied.The results indicated that GO was effectively introduced into P(AA/AM) resin,the optimum water absorbency(QW) and salt absorbency (QS) were 502g/g and 122g/g,respectively.Comparing with the extensive used P(AA/AM) super absorbent resin,saline absorption of P(AA/AM)-GO increased about 2.8 times,and thermal stability was increased by 58%,the water loss increased by 21.5% at 100℃ for 60min.the addition of GO effective improved the overall performance of conventional superabsorbent resins while broadening the application of GO as well.
