Abstract: Corn starch and glycerol were mixed with benzoyl peroxide as oxidant and then extruded to prepare oxidized thermoplastic starch (TPS) in a single screw extruder.The carboxyl content,mechanical properties and microstructure of TPS were investigated.The results showed that as the oxidant dosage increased,the carboxyl content of TPS was improved,the crystallinity decreased,the formation of EH crystal was blocked,the fracture surface changed from brittle fracture to ductile fracture,and the tensile properties were significantly increased.
