Abstract: The flame retardants of magnesium hydroxide(MH) and aluminum hydroxide(ATH) were modified on the surface by stearic acid(SA) and silane coupling agent KH570 and then filled in ethylene-propylene rubber(EPR)/phenyl silicone rubber (MPVQ) blend.The modified effect and the performance of blend were characterized by infrared spectroscopy and cone calorimeter,etc.The results showed that the two modifiers were successfully coated onto the surface of flame retardant,and the comprehensive performance of KH570 modified MH-filled blend was the best.Compared with the blank sample without flame retardant,when the filling amount was 20%,the tensile strength of composite increased from 5.79MPa to 6.93MPa,the oxygen index LOI increased from 27.6 to 36.3,the total heat release decreased from 62.31mJ/m2 to 34.39mJ/m2,the maximum heat release rate went down from 349.54 kW/m2 to 269.32 kW/m2 and aging performance was better.
