Abstract: Distillers' grain-based activated carbon (GAC) was prepared by chemical activation using H3PO4 as activating agent,Fe(NO3)3 was used to in-situ generation of FeOOH on GAC and produced FGAC.Congo red was used as target pollutant to study the adsorption capacity of produced carbons.The results revealed that the optimum adsorption condition was the adsorption temperature of 25℃,the adsorption time of 180min,inital solution pH values of 3,FGAC dosage of 0.15g and the amount of congo red solution was 50mL.Under the aforementioned condition,the congo red adsorption rate of FGAC was 97.05%.Thus,FGAC can be used as a potentially attractive adsorbent for removing congo red from aqueous solution.
