Abstract: Cellulose hydrogel was obtained by sol-gel transition of cotton linter in a green cost-effective NaOH/urea aqueous solution.The silica source used here was Na2SiO3 instead of traditional tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) by immersing method to prepared four kinds of cellulose/SiO2 composite aerogels and hydrophobically modified with hexadecyl trimethoxy silane (HDTMS).All samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Analysis results showed that the structure of cellulose/SiO2 composite aerogels and the modified products were all three-dimensional network,the pore became smaller after modification,four kinds of hydrophobic cellulose/SiO2 composite aerogels were gradually improved with the increase of the dose of Na2SiO3,and the biggest contact angle was 147°.The oil absorption reached 8 times of their own quality,which with good ability to adsorb oil.
