Abstract: Using microcapsules technology,geranium-polyvinyl alcohol microcapsules were prepared by interfacial polymerization using polyvinyl alcohol as shell material,geranium extract as core,and glutaraldehyde as the crosslinking agent.The surface morphology and thermal stability of microcapsules were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.The effects of core/shell mass ratio,dosage of crosslinking agent and reaction time on the microcapsule appearance were investigated.The results showed that,in a certain range,with decreasing the amount of wall material,increasing the amount of glutaraldehyde,and the prolonging of reaction time,the dispersion and coating situation of microcapsules were gradually improved,when the reaction time was 60min,the core/wall mass ratio was 6∶5,and the dosages of glutaraldehyde was 2mL,the microcapsules with the average particle size of 17.11μm can be prepared.And they had smooth surface,rounded particles and better thermal stability,which can be applied to the field of composite fabrics.
