Abstract: A high molecular weight poly (isosobide carbonate) (PIC) derived from biomass was synthesized with a new method using isosorbide (IS) and trichloromethyl chloroformate (TCF) as raw materials.The influences of reaction temperature and raw materials ratio on the molecular weight of PIC were investigated.FT-IR,1H-NMR,thermogravimetric (TG) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) were used to characterize the structure,thermostability and molecular weight of products.The results showed that when the molar ratio of IS and TCF as 1∶0.59,reacting at 5℃,the number average molecular weight(Mn) of PIC was up to 53172(far higher than reported data of 18300) with a Tg of 118℃ and Td,5% of 326℃,exhibited good transparency and thermostability.
